The Zhambyl State Philharmonic Hall hosted an event dedicated to the Professional Builders’ Day in Kazakhstan.

Almaty. 7 August. The Zhambyl State Philharmonic Hall hosted an event dedicated to the Professional Builders’ Day in Kazakhstan. Akhmetzhan Yesimov, Almaty City Akim, took part in the event. He congratulated the attendees on the holiday and handed Certificates of Merit to the construction specialists.

Currently, the city’s construction sector employs about 70,000 workers of various specialities. Nationwide, the city’s construction sector makes up 15%.

A total of 265 facilities are being built in Almaty, including: 107 residential sites; 158 social and cultural facilities. This year’s plan is to commission 1,100,000 square metres of housing, or 10% more than in 2008.

In the first half of the last year, 13 billion tenge was spent on the government’s housing construction programme. A total of 16 billion tenge was spent during the first half of this year, and commissioned apartments made 22% more.

This year, construction of various facilities under the government programme will use 50.5 billion tenge from the budget. These facilities include: 85,000 square metres of housing, 80 km of utility mainlines, 3 schools, one hospital, 4 outpatient clinics, and 3 kindergartens. These facilities involve 45 construction companies and 11 design institutions.

In 2008, problems of 3,105 interest-holders were resolved. This year, 4,277 interest-holders will move in their apartments. This year, the Road Map will include repairs of 300 streets with a total length of 290 km, totalling 12 billion tenge.

Speaking to the participants of the meeting, Akhmetzhan Yesimov made a special note of those employed in the construction industry. Thanks to their work, Almaty keeps developing and taking on a unique skyline.

“In the city’s economy, construction is a core industry. It has an effect on the city’s development and people’s well-being and disposition. We will therefore consider this sector to be our top priority,” the akim said.

9 construction specialists received the Merited Builder Award, and 2 the Merited Architect Award.

11 people were awarded the Almaty City Akim’s Certificate of Merit, and 9 specialists were awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Kazakhstan Association of Builders. 11 more people were awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Kazakhstan Agency for Construction and Housing Utilities.

The follow-up concert included shows of Kazakhstan pop stars. The professional holiday of builders in Kazakhstan is celebrated every second Sunday in August.
